Agreed, not easy to like the group but the writing and the story is captivating. The New Yorker never disappoints.
What fabulous writing! The vocabulary and phrasing and colorful language is wonderful and different. Very interesting!
Compelling even though the characters were difficult to like. Captivating opening, vivid descriptions. I’m still wincing at the image of Sergeant Brown’s feet swimmming greasily within his socks. What’s not to love? Highly recommend.
